One of the things that makes the Electric Palace such a great place to visit is our fabulous, dedicated volunteer team.

So, who are the people who welcome you when you head up the stairs to the cinema? Find out in our Meet the Volunteers series...

Name: Kate O'Regan

What prompted you to volunteer at the cinema?

My wish to support a local independent cinema. I think that they have a really important place in the community in offering accessibility to all.

How long have you volunteered at the cinema?

Just over two years.

What's your favourite thing about the cinema?

I really enjoy the interaction with people coming to see the films. There is often a huddle at the end, reviewing and talking about the film.

What special perk do love as a volunteer at the Electric Palace?

Free movies. Feeling part of it. It is like having a second living room.

Tell us about an experience at the cinema.

I loved the local ‘shorts’ event, which highlighted the amazing talent there is here in Hastings, with a special shout out to a film done by Nichola Bruce.

Have you ever gone to see a movie and wanted to watch it again immediately?

The Rider.

Tell us about favourite film of yours.

Pride, because it shows the coming together of two very different groups of people, which ultimately ends up with them being united for each others' cause.

Tell us a good film to watch that makes you laugh out loud or blub your eyes out.

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

At the Electric Palace as well as our programme of new films we also have other events such as comedy, music, theatre, quiz nights and so on. Tell us about one you enjoyed.

The music night with Glenn Veness was very good. It had many very good musicians performing all in one place.

What's your favourite snack or drink at the cinema?

Sauvignon

What's your favourite seat?

Furthest back on the right.

Finally, tell us something unusual about yourself.

I am an identical twin.
