Red-Headed Woman is based on a bestseller by Katherine Bush. Jean Harlow is pretty, vivacious and sexy as the outrageous Lillian, a conquering Visigoth, laying waste to any and all.

Lil works for the Legendre Company and causes Bill to divorce Irene and marry her. She has an affair with businessman Gaerste and uses him to force society to pay attention to her. She has another affair with the chauffeur Albert.

Every weapon deployed against her, every attack, every insult, she turns back on her attackers and annihilates them. It is at times off-putting. It is frequently ridiculous. And it is glorious.

This is a great pre-code Hollywood film so don't look for any type of punishment or for the character to take the moral ground.

“It goes away off on what is still called the deep end.” — New York Times
