THE HAUNTED MOVIE BUILDINGS OF HASTINGS AND BEXHILL aka THOSE KILLER THINGS by Mercedes Burne-Hramseig, is an art exhibition of paintings, sketches and artefacts based on the fascinating and sometimes bloody history of cinemas in Hastings and Bexhill through the ages.
Showing as part of this year's Coastal Currents festival.
Artist talk at 3pm followed by exhibition and surprise film screening!
Burne-Hramseig is an artist and games designer based in Hastings. Inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, she is interested in the connections and hidden histories of the many cinemas in Hastings and Bexhill.
The exhibition includes paintings and sketches of the iconic Electric Palace that still thrives alongside many other cinemas now lost to the past through financial hardship and disuse, like the Roxy, Ritz and Orion in Hastings, and the Palace and Gaiety in Bexhill.
PLUS! Surprise film at 4pm!
Stick around after the artist talk to see a specially selected film to celebrate National Cinema Weekend. Pay as you feel - all donations go towards our Electric Palace Crowdfunder.
No need to book - it's free and first come first served: just show up and enjoy the event!
