Narrated by Stephen Fry, this is the first complete feature
documentary about Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher’s life and work.

ESCHER: JOURNEY INTO INFINITY is a portrait of the Dutch artist, M.C Escher, and an exploration of his wide influence on modern art world-wide and the inspiration he provided for musicians and popular culture today.

This is the first complete feature length documentary about Escher, based on more than 1000 letters, diaries and lectures written by him during his lifetime. Through the narration of Stephen Fry, we hear him speak in his own words, about his life, his fears, doubts, politics and work.

Director Lutz says, “We get under his skin and come as close as possible to meet and understand this great graphic artist. The camera is Escher’s eye!”

The film includes archival footage of Escher himself, and interviews with his sons George and Jan, as well as musician, and collector of Escher’s work, Graham Nash (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young).

British mathematician Sir Roger Penrose, Nobel Laureate in Physics and Emeritus Professor of mathematics at Oxford University, is the patron of the film. Sir Roger has a long-standing interest in and connection with M.C. Escher, and is said to have given Escher ideas for some of his world-famous prints.
