The story begins when Samuel is found dead in the snow outside the isolated chalet where he lived with his wife Sandra, a German writer, and their partially-sighted 11-year-old son Daniel. An investigation leads to a conclusion of "suspicious death": it's impossible to know for sure whether he took his own life or was killed.

Sandra is indicted, and we follow her trial which pulls the couple's relationship apart. Daniel is caught in the middle: between the trial and their home life, doubts take their toll on the mother-son relationship.

This film was a sensation at the Canne Film Festival last year and won the Palme D'Or. Tipped for Oscar success, this is a film event not to be missed!

New! Parent and Baby screening
Friday 5 April 12pm

A monthly screening exclusively for parents/carers with babies under 12 months. Babies can sleep, burble or cry – and parents/carers get a chance to catch up with some cinema. Babies go free! These screenings include Descriptive Subtitling when available and the sound will be lower than usual, and the lights up for your child's comfort.

We have started these screenings due to popular demand, however the cinema is not accessible for buggies due to our steep staircase therefore, and so all parents are kindly asked to bring their babies in a sling for the screenings as we have no buggy park or lift access. Please take special care on the stairs.

Please note that babies (under 12 months) are only allowed to attend our special Parent & Baby and Relaxed screenings, and may not be brought in to our regular screenings. Please see our Terms of Admittance.
