Cinema management changes from April 2023

Rebecca Marshall to step down as Co-Director this month, and new directorial team established to continue cinema's development.

After 20 years of co-running The Electric Palace cinema, Rebecca Marshall (pictured) has decided to step away from her role as Co-Director as of 31st March 2023.

There will be no great changes to the general running of the cinema, and Rebecca will continue programming as part of the team at least until September 2023.

Annie Waite will continue in her role as Co-Director leading on marketing, and Alan Whitty as Cinema Manager and Head of Operations.

From April 1st 2023 we also welcome two new members to the team. Julia Andrews-Clifford will join as Co-Director to lead on programming and fundraising, and Antonia Clarke as a Co-Director to lead on systems management and project development.

We aim for this transition to be an opportunity for a slow and careful expansion of The Electric Palace, and to further develop the use of our beautiful venue. An Advisory Board of local individuals to share feedback and external expertise on the cinema’s plans is also being established. We will be developing this board over the coming months.

Dear Future

Rebecca will be setting up a sister Community Interest Company to The Electric Palace cinema, called ‘Dear Future.’ This will develop projects that involve film and a wider arts remit, and initially includes developing the ‘Dear Future Film Festival,’ taking place at The Electric Palace Cinema for the third year this coming November.

Rebecca is also looking forward to focusing further on her personal filmmaking projects.
