It's 1932 in the Mississippi Delta and criminal twin brothers Smoke and Stack (both played by Michael B. Jordan) return to their home town to make a fresh start. They make a deal with a local Clarksdale landowner to purchase an abandoned sawmill and turn it into a juke joint. With the arrival of old friends and lovers, welcome guests and the uninvited, the grand opening night descends into a bloody confrontation that the brothers could never have imagined.
