We are thrilled to present an afternoon of classic cinema adverts courtesy of the iconic Pearl and Dean, with short documentary interview with Jack Dean, plus special introduction and Q and A with Rob Dean (son of Jack). Prepare to be transported back in time to the golden age of screen advertising and glorious graphic design!
Pearl and Dean's glamourous commercials were an integral part of the cinema experience, extolling the virtues of Benson & Hedges cigarettes and Gordon’s Gin.
There was an audible thrill amongst the audience as the lights dimmed in the cinema, the thin curtain parted and the Pearl and Dean logo jumped out the screen, accompanied by that soundtrack.
Pearl & Dean was formed in 1953 by Ernie and Charles Pearl and Bob Dean, to sell pre-feature advertising on British cinema screens.
