PAVEMENTS

The second installment in the new First Tuesday strand, PAVEMENTS is an irreverent, genre-bending portrait of the iconic '90s indie rock band Pavement, blending authentic archival footage, contemporary documentary moments, an ironic jukebox musical, a satirical Hollywood biopic, and playful mockumentary sequences, brilliantly collapsing the boundaries between reality and fiction.

Interwoven with genuine archival footage and featuring the band members themselves alongside a cast of actors and comedians, PAVEMENTS humorously examines fan obsession, myth-making, and the cultural mechanics behind fame. This uniquely layered exploration challenges the traditional way stories about musicians are told with artistry, absurdity and humour, culminating in a refreshingly inventive and endearingly self-aware tribute to an unforgettable band.

Presented in association with Harry Lebowski from Hombre, a mainstay in the local music and poetry scene. Harry is inspired heavily by the american indie rock/punk/grunge scene of the 90s, and will be paying homage to his self-proclaimed favourite band, Pavement.

This will include a short set of acoustic covers of his favourite Malkmus masterpieces and originals inspired by the band and documentary themselves. Feel free to sing along.
