Independent Visions brings you modern US independent cinema that you'd find hard to see outside of London, starting with Christmas Again, a wistful and alternative take on the traditional Christmas film starring rising indie star, Kentucker Audley.

It's Noel's fifth year selling Christmas trees in New York City, his girlfriend has left him, and he spends almost all his days either in his camper on a Brooklyn street or at the tree stand.

But when he rescues a woman passed out on a park bench from freezing overnight, green shoots of emotional connection and recovery start to form.

Shot on Super 16 film, this offbeat, festive character study isn't typical Christmas fare, but it is romantic, sensitive and very real.

Fun fact: director Charles Poekel ran his own Christmas tree stall in NYC for three years before shooting the film, and the movie was shot on location at the stall, with cast and crew selling trees between takes.
