The Kolkata Street Food Experience comes to the Electric Palace to start the year with the sounds, sights, smells and tastes of Kolkata in a unique sensory experience featuring the award winning film "Street Food Kolkata – Why Not…" and the amazing snacks featured in the film, falling off the screen and fresh into your mouth. Authentic and original- tastes of the mighty city of Kolkata seen from dawn to dusk through the constant kitchens of the pavements that provide fuel for
millions on the move. A documentary of an extreme and intense situation that spawns some of the most delicious, nutritious and cheapest food on our planet. Without presenter or voice over the story is told by those who make and those who eat the food and the original sound track is a beautiful, uplifting and moving meditation to making the most of not very much.
Made by Hastings based chef and film maker Angus Denoon who spent much time in Kolkata filming and learning ways of
making cheap, nutritious, delicious food for the many on the move. This led to setting up The Everybody Lovelove Jhal Muri Express - a free flowing carnival of colour specialising in Kolkata food.
Before the film they will be making Jhal muri cones (the great leveller and puffed rice taste explosion), ghungi chaat and lemon tea (as served on the local trains).
The street food is included in the ticket price, so come early and enjoy the tastes before you see them. Come hungry, leave nourished.
