Gifts

The Gifts project was inspired by a naming day gift; a box containing an egg for life, coal for heat, evergreen for eternity, salt for health, a candle for light, a coin for wealth and a silver ring for love throughout life.

Over ten years using gift economy, Clare Whistler revealed each everyday object in its utopian state putting it at the heart of its own creative hub, generating a cycle of collaborations and relationships, re-energising the meaning and cultural significance of gift-giving.
