Electric Palace Survey 2013 - the results

A huge thanks to the nearly 100 people who took our recent online survey about the Electric Palace. We’re now working through your comments and acting upon your suggestions.

 

The World of Silent Film

On Sunday 16th June 2013 "the authority on silent movies in the UK", Pamela Hutchinson, will be taking cinemagoers on a lively journey through the early years of cinema, as she picks out the best classic and forgotten clips from the silent film world. A Q&A will follow the talk.

 

 

Silver Screen April 2013

Silver Screenings take place every Thursday at 11am (doors open 10:30am), with all tickets for these screenings now £4. Included within the ticket price is a free cup of tea or coffee for everyone.

 

George & Thom's Film Quiz 2013

On Saturday May 25th 2013, we welcome back to the Electric Palace the inventive and energetic quiz masterminds, George and Thom, for another bout of cinema-connected chin-scratching. Join us for the now legendary Film Quiz night that all moviegoers can enjoy.

 

 

 

 

 

Hastings Film Makers Festival 2013

From 26-28 April, the Electric Palace Cinema is presenting the first ever film festival featuring films sourced from Hastings.

10 Years!

We are 10 years old this October 2012! We would like to say a massive THANK YOU to all of our amazing volunteers who have helped through the past 10 years, without their support it would have been impossible to run the Electric Palace.

 

Silver Screen

The Electric Palace is delighted to launch a weekly screening aimed at our senior visitors who prefer to enjoy films during the daytime. The screenings will take place every Thursday at 11am (doors open 10:30am) there will be a free cup of tea or coffee for everyone.

 

The Artist

Unfortunately screenings of The Artist planned for 23 - 27 May have had to be postponed due to a delay in the release date. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. We have rescheduled the screenings for: Wed 4 July // Thur 5 July // Fri 6 July // Sat 7 July // Sun 8 July. Rose Wylie at The Jerwood

Christmas Films: .... The screening of Life in a Day has been CANCELLED on Saturday 15 October due to Bonfire Night. But don’t miss out - you can still watch it on: Thursday 13 October, Friday 14 October & Sunday 16 October, doors open at 7:15pm, the film starts at 8pm Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Quiz Night

Come to the Electric Palace for our first ever film quiz. All questions about cinema, celebrities and movie scores. There will be fun, there will be prizes, there will be booze and there will be blood. September 5th, 8pm. Doors open at 7pm. Limited seating so come early in teams of four. £3/person. Projection Space

Wed 25 May // FREE // 7pm - 10pm // The popular user content/bring-your-film night will once again be hosted by the Electric Palace Cinema. If you are a moving image maker of any kind, we invite you to attend and screen extracts of your shorts, documentaries and installations. Projection Space represents a great opportunity to have your work screened and gauge the audience’s response to your work, obtain constructive feedback and meet potential collaborators. This event is open to all, not just those with films to show.

 

Beyond Surveillance

Wed 9 February 2011 // 8pm // Please note this screening has been INCORRECTLY listed in the Electric Palace programme as 9 March // Beyond Surveillance is a collection of art works developed in response to and in counteraction against surveillance technologies, with a panel of speakers discussing the consequences of and alternatives to surveillance in our daily life. Artist and curator Manu Luksch has selected several works which she will introduce which explore differing aspects of re-activism to surveillance technologies.

 

BAFTA

This latest Electric Palace Cinema film programme - April, May & June 2010 has been inspired by this years BAFTA nominates and winners. We have put together a special Electric Palace film programme featuring many of the impressive selection of nominated and award winning feature films including: The Road, Its Complicated, Nowhere Boy, Julie and Julia, An Education, Glorious 39, The Hurt locker, A Serious Man, Bright Star.

 

Snow

We are tying to continue to open as normal through the the snowy weather, why not take a winter walk to the Electric Palace then enjoy a cosy film with a glass of wine - what could be better?

 

Sing-along-Wickerman

Fri 30 April 2010 Dust down your best Scottish Accent, dress up as your favourite character and come join with the singing, buttock-slapping and dialogue of this horror classic. Your hosts David Bramwell and Eliza Skelton will get things warmed up with a little live music, stories, and fun, lead you through the actions and lyrics for the songs then at the witching hour you’ll be given a pagan hymn book and goody-bag full of surprises, we’ll roll the film and may god have mercy on your soul!

 

Hairspray

On Saturday 28thAugust, Eat @ the Park Cafe, Alexandra Park, Hastings will be showing the fabulous film HAIRSPRAY as their outdoor summer screening. Staring John Travolta & Michelle Pfeiffer. Tickets available on the door only; £4 per adult, £2 per child under 14. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Christmas Opening / Closing

The Electric Palace will be closed during the Christmas period from Thursday 23 December, we reopen with our new season’s programme on Wednesday 5 January 2011. Its a Wonderful Life

It’s a Wonderful Life - Sun 20 Dec 3pm screening has been cancelled. Unfortunately this afternoon screening as been cancelled due to a double booking – apologies to everyone who was hoping to attend this event. Advance bookings will be refunded in full. The evening screenings of It’s a Wonderful Life on Sat 19th Dec and Sun 20th Dec at 8pm are still running as advertised. Our apologies once again.

 

Bollywood - Om Shanti Om

Enjoy a Bollywood Film in the Durbar Hall at Hastings Sat 17 Oct ..... 7:30pm ..... Museum and Art Gallery part of the Indian Summer Exhibition. With dazzling musical numbers, India's biggest leading man in Shah Rukh Khan, and cameos by nearly every Bollywood star, Om Shanti Om is a blockbuster extravaganza, with comedy, melodrama, action and suspense in a mix of epic proportions.

The Electric Palace Cinema had a great write up in the Guardian Newspaper last week - "Take a seat outdoors, in your car, in art deco splendour or even on a rooftop, with our pick of the best film venues in Britain" The Electric Palace was listed as one of the three 'Best boutique cinemas' in the UK!

 

Cleo from 5 to 7

Sorry this film screening has been cancelled due to a change in the release date. It has been replaced with LA VIE EN ROSE another chance to watch this stunning portait of Edith Piaf

 

I loved you so long

I’ve Loved You So Long Sunday 5 April 3pm A huge apology to those of you who turned up for a 3pm screening of I Loved You So Long on Sunday 5 April. This was a programme error which we simply had not noticed as the screening was meant to be at 8pm and we had no idea (until it was pointed out to us on Sunday evening) that the time was wrong in the paper version of the programme. Our apologies for all of the inconvenience this oversight has caused.

Apologies to everyone who hoped to watch London Nobody Knows / Les Bicyclettes De Belsize on Thursday Night, unfortunatley this screening was cancelled. However the screening tonight (Friday 27 March) will be taking place as as advertised. Online booking is available.
